For Release September 24, 2018, New York, NY – Ralph Lauren Corporation (NYSE:RL) is pleased to announce that on April 24, 2018, Guangzhou Baiyun District People's Court in China's Guangdong province convicted Wu Weisheng for selling counterfeit Ralph Lauren branded POLO shirts. The defendant was sentenced to 14 months of imprisonment without probation and fined RMB 40,000.

On October 23, 2017, in an earlier ruling related to this case, the Baiyuan District People's Court issued criminal judgements against Yu Chongxin and Jin Yongqiang for selling counterfeit Ralph Lauren branded POLO shirts. Yu Chongxin was given a sentence of 10 months in jail with one year probation and fined RMB 5,000. Jin Yongqiang was given a sentence of eight months in jail with one year probation and fined RMB 5,000.

The victory is another milestone in our continued work to combat counterfeit products, trademark infringement, and other intellectual property violations that damage our brand reputation, undermine our intellectual property rights and business interests, and deceive Chinese customers.

The Baiyun District People's Court's judgement sets another strong legal precedent for the protection of our intellectual property rights in China.
